I started attending workshops at the Creative Freedom Arts Studio in March 2008 and the experience has been phenominal! The instructors (or hosts as they like to be called) are wonderful -- very talented, knowledgeable and committed to the craft of acting and educating its students about the real deal about the business. I always knew that acting takes a lot of work yet I know that the hard work and dedication will pay off in the end. Since attending classes at CFAS, through the recommendation of Kevin Jiggetts, I landed my first professional opportunity which has made me more focused and committed. Clearly, because Kevin saw that certain "something" in me I'm determined to take the necessary steps to make my dreams of acting a reality. I've learned the importance of being free so that my true talent can shine through. When preparing for the final workshop performances, Rick Peete has been instrumental in coaching me so that the characters that I perform are believable and that the story that I'm telling is real. His patience, truthfulness and dedication to his students is remarkable! Although he pushes you until you curse, it has been worth it especially when the cursing turns to praising and applauses when it is all said and done. And needless to say, I'll continue to take workshops at CFAS to broaden my experiences and gain the skills that I need to become a professional actress. I love you guys! K. Stearns

This year has started out to be quite fruitful in terms of my bookings and amount of auditions and callbacks. As I saw my callback ratio increase, I knew that I needed that "little extra something" to seal the deal. I decided that I approach my long time friend and fellow actor Rick Peete on individual coaching. In the few sessions that we had together thus far, I have seen a tremendous improvement in how I analyzed scenes and ultimately played out the scenes in my call backs. "Raise the Stakes!"Rick would say. I also found a new confidence in my abilities as an actor. As everyone knows displaying confidence in an audition setting is half the battle of getting the part. This is exactly what I needed. I now expect to see an increase in my bookings as well as maturity in my acting. For me, its all about taking it to the next level and I want to thank Rick for helping me take it to the next level. I am getting ready for my callback in NYC for an independent this weekend and I feel more than prepared. As the NYC casting director said after my audition "where do you come from"...I was like "D.C.". The Director responded äfter my audition, I can see why I like the caliber of actors out of D.C.". Then me with a smile...thinking of the sessions with Rick. Thanks Rick!

Love the site and love the classes at your studio. I've taken a couple of classes and you guys were exactly what I needed. Some of the other acting places around the DC area really waste your time with a bunch of technical mumbo-jumbo. 02/06/2008 10:36:18 | Kodioc
